‘ Herb ’ We Go Again !
Jekka McVicar, organic herb grower, took thyme out from a very busy schedule – designing a garden for Chelsea, filming a new TV cookery
programme and much more – to come to Neston Flower Society. This was a return visit after 20 years ! Where do the years go? To a capacity audience at Neston Civic Hall a morning of
inspirational and amusing stories of the last 20 years of Jekka’s life – from derelict house and having to relocate her herb farm - to the present day. She has just been made Vice President of
the Royal Horticultural Society ! As well as creating gardens for Chelsea, Jekka has designed many sensory gardens for several hospices and worked with the homeless in the middle of London making a
‘haven garden’ for them. At the Question and Answer session after her talk Jekka answered many varied questions from how to get rid of garden pests to Brexit ! Her closing words were “ The plants
don’t need us – we need the plants. ”
Neston Flower Society is celebrating 60 years and this has been a real highlight of the year.

We had a 'Brief Encounter' at Carnforth ! then on to Leighton Hall.
Toured the House and had Afternoon Tea. Beautiful Garden - all enhanced with fabulous weather.
